Putting Lawnmowers away for winter ? (How To)

I clean the bottom of the deck and paint it with a thin coat of used oil. Take out the battery and put it in the house. Then just park it for the winter. In the spring I start it up, never a problem, run it till warmed up, shut down and change oil. It must be working, mow an acre and a half each time and it's now 15 years old. Gas going bad is a strange thing. I've had engines that just refused to fire after 4 or 5 months. Change the gas and they fire right up. Then I've got chain saw gas that works in the saw and it's five years old.
