How to reset your password for NEWMB (How To)

A few users have contacted me in recent months about resetting a forgotten password for NEWMB. It is a fairly easy process, but I thought I would detail the process for everyone's benefit as well as to be able to point users to this post in the future.

You need just one thing in order to reset your NEWMB account password; access to the email account that you used to make your NEWMB account. If you no longer have access to the email account you used to sign up for your NEWMB account, and don't remember the password, you'll just have to sign up for a new account with a different username.

To reset your password:

1) Click this link: I forgot my password. This is the same link from the main login page.

2) Carefully type your email address in the box provided and click the OK button. Remember, this must be the email address on record with your NEWMB account.

3) Check your email, you should have received a message from NEW Message Board entitled "Request for new password". In this email, you will see "Link to confirm your request" near the bottom of the email - click the link directly below those words, you will be taken to the message board and see in red "The new password has been sent" - you can leave this screen up, as you will use it to log in in a moment.

4) Check your email again and you will have a 2nd email from NEW Message Board entitled "New user data for the forum". This email will have both your NEWMB username and new, randomly generated password listed. You should be able to log in using that information.

If you don't see any new messages from NEW Message Board in your inbox, be sure to check your Spam/Junk folder.

If you would like to then change your password to something else once you've gotten logged in with the new random password that was generated for you, you can do that by clicking on your username from the upper right corner of the message board pages, then click the Change Password link a few lines down from the top. On the following page, type in your current password (the randomly generated one that you received in the 2nd email from the above process) and then type in a new password in the next box, then repeat the new password in the last box and click OK.
